Short term memory is an essential part in the process of consecutive interpreting and can be enhanced by appropirate memeory training method. Retelling in the Source Language has been identified as an effective approach that help improve short term memory. This paper reported finings from a study on the application of this method with Vietnamese class of 23 students, majoring in English Translation and Interpretation as they enrolled the Basic Consecutive Interpretation Course. Focal points for reporting include students' perceptions on the effectiveness of the method, its advantages and challenges in its use for practicing and memory enhancement. Results revealed that all student-participants perceived the pivotal role that short term memory plays in interpreting and felt positive about the effectivness of the method in their memory development. In light of these insights, further suggestions for better teaching practices are also made in the report.
