The highlighted steps in student extracurricular activities and
student support in 2014
The year 2014 marked a brightening period of numerous creative ways in student
extracurricular activities of CTU.
1. CTU has developed and applied the information technology applications to support the
online contests and organized for students more effectively. Those competitions were very
attractive to appeal a great number of students to join, of which were the Olympic Games
on Political Science and Uncle Ho Chi Minh's thoughts and ideology with the participation
of 13,328 students, or the English Olympic with 12,190 students participating. The Youth
Union of CTU also boosted social networking among students, promoting the sharing and
communicating among students through different means such as radio news, website news
and video clips.
2.
CTU's students also strongly
supported and pioneered in the
voluntary youth movements for social
charity work and other meaningful
campaigns such as "For the Nation's
Security and Development" ,
"Environmental Campaign", "For
the Green University and Beautiful
Campuses" through specific
activities with more than 100,000
participation times of students. Of
the meaningful voluntary programs
was the "Green Summer Campaign",
in which the students volunteered
to join different functional support teams based on their professional skills and interests
to make their contributions into significant youth works across the city and provinces in
the Mekong Delta. In the "Green Summer Campaign", the University appealed the funding
of more than 2.1 billion VND, with the labor contribution of CTU's students, to support
constructing charity houses, bridges and roads in the remote rural areas to promote the
innovative development for rural areas in response to the Government's policies for rural
development. In the summer, the students also volunteered to support and guide the high
school students coming to Can Tho City and taking part in the Universities or Colleges
National Entrance Exam. Especially, they supported more than 10,000 free meals and
provided transportation and lodge for disadvantaged high school students. The students
also voluntarily offered more than 5,500 blood donation units per year.
