Snakehead fish (Channa striata) is an economic freshwater species to cultured population in the earthen pond in the Mekong Delta, Viet Nam. However, the intensive snakehead fish culture system have been deal with diseases out break such bacterial pathogen, parasitic pathogen. Those pathogens were well known, but fungal pathogen has not known well yet. Therefore, this study was carried out to isolate and identified the composition of fungal infection on snakehead fish and water environment in the earthen pond in order to manage the fungal pathogen. The results showed that there were 80 strains of fungi which isolated on diseases of snakehead fish cultured in Can Tho city. Those strains of fungi infected in diseases snakehead fish were classified into 2 groups namely Achlya sp. belong to lower fungi and Acremonium sp. belong to higher fungi. Those strains of fungi infected in water environment were classified into 5 groups namely Fusarium sp.; Achlya sp.; Acremonium sp.; Pennicillum sp.; and Aspergillus sp.; The occurrence frequency of Fusarium sp. was highest (51.43%), and lowest was Acremonium sp. (4.29%). This study was examined the quantities of conidia of fungi in each pond culture. The histological examination was also desribed in this study.
