ABSTRACT

In recent years, collaborative tourism and the sharing economy have become increasingly popular, significantly transforming the way people travel and experience destinations. This research aims to explore the benefits and drawbacks of collaborative tourism, assess its potential as an ideal economic model, and examine its ongoing evolution and future prospects. The present study employs research approaches such as literature review, case study analysis, surveys and interviews, and comparative analysis. The research outcomes include: (1) a comprehensive understanding of the factors driving the growth of collaborative tourism and the sharing economy in the travel industry; (2) identification of the benefits of collaborative tourism, such as cost savings, increased accessibility, and sustainable development, as well as the potential drawbacks, including impacts on local communities, regulatory challenges, and concerns about safety and quality; (3) insights into the economic viability of collaborative tourism as an alternative or complementary model to traditional travel industry offerings; (4) recommendations for stakeholders in the travel industry and policymakers to effectively manage the growth of collaborative tourism and address its potential negative consequences, ensuring a sustainable and balanced development of the sector; and (5) identification of future trends and potential developments in collaborative tourism and the sharing economy, offering valuable guidance for businesses, policymakers, and researchers in this rapidly evolving field.
