Agriculture applying high technology is one of the goals countries worldwide aim for. High-technology agriculture is invested in developed countries such as The United States of America and European countries and Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand. In recent years, Vietnam, a country with a long traditional agricultural production, has focused on developing high-technology agriculture. In this paper, an overview of policies and high-technology farming models will be analyzed. High-technology production is planting crops, ornamental plants, and edible mushrooms to serve human needs. These production models apply new and advanced technologies to improve crop product quality and productivity. The Vietnam government has issued policies encouraging agricultural enterprises and farmers to apply high technology in their production. Several high-technology farming models have been developed in recent years in Vietnam, including hydroponics; aeroponics; aquaponics; applied drones in spraying, seeding, and fertilizing. High-technology agriculture contributes to the comprehensive development of agriculture towards modernization; large-scale production; achieving high productivity and good quality; increasing efficiency and competitiveness; firmly recommends food security and national food both in the short and long term. However, high-technology agriculture in Vietnam still faces many difficulties and limitations, such as difficulties in investment capital, human resources, underdeveloped infrastructure, and the consumer market. To develop high-technology agriculture in Vietnam, it is necessary to increase investment in science-technology activities; develop the research, selection, and creation of new varieties of plants and animals. These new varieties must have high yields, good quality, adapt to climate change and be suitable for each locality’s development orientation. The Vietnam government should issue policies to encourage and create conditions for small and medium enterprises, farms, and cooperatives to invest in developing agro-forestry-fishery products’ preservation and processing industry. In addition, the government also needs to encourage farmers to boldly apply technological advances to production, promoting agricultural development at a high and sustainable level.
