Boleophthalmus boddarti is an mudskippers (Gobiidae) inhabiting along the mudflat of Mekong Delta, and of commercial importance in Southeast Asia. A study on the mudskipper has been carried out along the mudflat of Soc Trang, Mekong Delta, Vietnam, to establish some basic parameters of its population biology. To investigate the population parameters of this mudskipper, a total of 851 individuals were caught in muddy flat of the study area by deep net with 10-mm mesh size. This study lasted six months, from August 2013 to January 2014. The total length of this mudskipper was measured after determining sex based on external feature (genital papilla). Length frequency of the fish ranging from 8.0 to 16.0 cm was analyzed by using FiSAT II software package (Fig. 1). The parameters of von Bertalanffy growth function fit to the length frequency data were L_? = 16.8 cm, K = 0.8 yr^-1. The fishing mortality (F = 0.21 yr^-1) and natural mortality (M = 1.87 yr^-1) amounted for 10.1% and 89.9% of the total mortality (Z = 2.08 yr^-1), respectively (Fig. 2). Relative yield-per-recruit and biomass-per-recruit analyses gave E_max = 0.358, E_0.1 = 0.259 and E_0.5 = 0.232 (Fig 3). This study reported that growth constant (K) of this mudskipper was high which could be potential for future aquaculture. Moreover, this finding also showed that the fish stock rate was slightly lower than that of potential exploitation, but the mesh size was slightly small, suggesting that the local government should require fisherman to change the mesh size of gill net for future sustainable exploitation and development.
