Phrasal verbs (PVs) are a difficult part of English mastery for learners in English as a foreign language (EFL) setting because the meaning of PVs is combined of multiple words together, not from the literal meaning of each word separately. Songs are a text that use PVs frequently, offer a melody for spoken language, and mention most learners’ interests and feelings, such as love. As a result, songs were chosen as a pedagogical treatment for English majors, who demonstrated higher retention of PVs and reported motivation. Reading the following pages will give teachers a greater understanding of possible effects of the use of songs on learners’ retention of PVs.
