The Mekong Delta’s distinctive cultural identity, deeply intertwined with its unique aquatic environment, constitutes a valuable resource for the development of Vietnam’s cultural tourism industry. The region’s annual flooding, creating a characteristic landscape, lifestyle, and production systems imbued with cultural significance, offers a prime opportunity to establish a competitive advantage for Southern Vietnam’s tourism sector. This research aims to (1) elucidate the cultural identity of the Mekong Delta’s floating season; (2) assess the potential and challenges of transforming this cultural asset into tourism experiences; and (3) propose strategies for preserving and promoting the floating season’s cultural values to contribute to the region’s cultural tourism development.
