Tạp chí: feed and feeding management for healthier aquaculture and profits
Liên kết:

Live food plays an important role in production of fingerlings and postlarvae of a number of fishes and shellfish and especially to marine species. In College of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CAF), the early success on production of fresh water prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) PLs and stripped cat fish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) fries were relied on Chlorella and rotifer Brachionus plicatilis as a whole. Recently, fresh water rotifer B. angularis to be isolated and cultured for requirement of marble goby (Oxyeleotris marmoratus) as a result their fries reached excellent survival at day 10 at a density of 11 ind.ml-1. At the same time this species and water fleas (Moina sp), which was succeeded with mass culture with Chlorella, were also tried for stripped cat fish fry to find out the best results when stripped cat fish fries at day 10 were fed with B. angularis for the first 3 days and then water fleas after 1-day hatching with rotifer 8 ind.ml-1 of 6 feeding times per day. Beside the brackish copepod Schmackeria dubia has been isolated in the coastline of Soctrang and studied their biological characteristics (e.g. filtration rate and feeding rate, growth in length and time at appropriate development stages, reproductive characteristics) as this species being considered as excellent live food thanks to their high protein content, rich of acid amins and essential fatty acid; moreover their rich in vitamin and enzymes are also considered. On top of these Artemia franciscana (originated from Sanfrancisco Bay, USA) has been intensively studied from the mid of 80’s with mainly focus on cyst and biomass production in solar saltworks. A number of studies Artemia biology and application in aquaculture have been acchieved in CTU so far. Now CTU owns the pond culture techniques, through which farmers could apply into their salt ponds to get the final cyst and biomass production per season (app. 4 months) is 100-150 kg cysts/ha (wet weight) and 2000-3000 kg biomass/ha, respectively. In CTU several live food have been studied as a need for aquaculture, but Artemia contributes significantly also to the income of saltfarmers as now severall hundred hectares of solar saltworks in the Mekong Delta (i.e. Soc trang, Bac lieu, Tra Vinh and Ben tre provinces) being used for Artemia farming, which bring up 30-40 tons cyst (wet weight) and a few tons of fresh biomass per season. Of those the farmer income may reach to 3000-5000 usd/ha/season in average.
