Quinalphos is a popular pesticide used under the brand name of Kinalux 25EC in agriculture in the Mekong Delta, especially in rice field, to prevent rice panicle mite. Residues of this compound can be found in rice field environment, including water, sediment and fish, in integrated rice fish systems. Quinalphos is known as a toxic agent and can affect the nervous system of most animals at both acute and chronic levels. In order to figure out the distribution and elimination of quinalphos from environmental related materials, an experiment was set up in a rice fish field located in Co Do District (Can Tho City, Vietnam). The experiment was realized in three sections located in a 4000 square meters rice fish field. Common carp and silver barb were stocked in to the field when the rice was about 2 month age. Kinalux 25EC was applied 2 times with the dose of 170 mL/1000 m2 corresponding to 42.5 g of quinalphos. Water, fish and sediment samples were collected at interval times and analysed by gas chromatography – electron capture detector system. The results showed that quinalphos residue in fish tissue were much higher than in water. The bioconcentration factor (logBCF)  was more than two for the investigated fish species. These results indicated the ability of bioconcentration of quinalphos in fish. The elimination was longest in sediment followed by fish and the fastest elimination of quinalphos was observed in water. It is assumed that after application, a large portion of quinalphos was kept in rice and that the remaining went into water. In water, quinalphos was further distributed to fish, sediment as well as into rice tree.
